Random blabbering....

Life has been slow lately....
or maybe there was something significant happening
but i was not paying attention particularly...
Anyway...SPM trial exam has started last monday,
16 August...
and how time flies....
in a blink of an eye...it's August...
and now trial exam....
Another blink and it'll be end of September....
someone should wake me up by then...
I had to invigilate for 2 full days and after tuesday...
thank god someone else took over...

Anyway....the principal wanted the teachers
to mark the 5 Gemilang's papers asap...
but i guess....they won't be performing well....
Oh....i just hope that the result for 2010 is not going
to decrease so badly.
Bleargh....

ANyway...i have been busy over the weekend updating the
long overdue UJ blog....
Oh yeah...i'm the co-author....
tho my BM sucks and i got writer's block
just thinking in BM but it
thank God it doesn't sound so bad...
I finally decided to
put my name as the co-author.
I spruced up the background a bit an add
some music...
and now it looks ...
well...fabulous would not be it...
since i still have problem trying to create my own background...
but i enjoyed exploring picassa
and using it to combine all the photos
into one frame...
pretty kewl...
still left two weeks of schooling before the
next break...
and surprisingly...
i have not gone to a pasar ramadhan yet...
2 weeks into the ramadhan month...
hmmm...i should drag Chin one of these
days before the fasting month ends....

27 July - English In Camp.

I arrived in school early...with James....
he slept in the car while i drove....
Huh...now i know how Chin felt when i slept in the car...
LOL....
Anyway...the Principal promised that there wouldn't be
long and formal assembly on that day....
but it seemed that the students had different ideas totally...
We had to bring the Form 1 students to the hall and got
them into groups...
So i had to ask Ruslan to announced that the Form 1 students
be excused from the assembly...

After getting the students into groups, Azie
started off the day with her first session...
she partnered up with Srivani and they had an interesting
and fun session.
The students came up with a group name for themselves
and a group cheer...which was pretty fun...
James was appointed the judge...LOL...
and when he finally announced the winner of the session,
the kids were all quiet....
they couldn't understand James' accent...ROFL...
The next session was mine and Kak Zu...
we did something on NIE....Newspaper trail and
poster making....
some of the kids came up with really good
posters...
but some Chinese boys as usual, year in year out,
not participating at all...
so we decided that those who did not do anything
would not get food...
so some of the Chinese boys complaint to me about the
food thingy so at the end of my session, i warned
them about not participating
and told them to redeem themselves in the last session,
which was Bed's session.

I just finished my session and went out to distribute the
invitation booklet to the principal for the closing
ceremony when Chin turned up
in my school with the news that
he was suspected to be suffering
from dengue fever.
He went for a blood test earlier and the doctor
advised him to admit himself into
the hospital.
He got the blood test report from the doctor
and decided to go to KPJ.
So, i had to leave earlier with James and missed
the closing ceremony.
I later on got to know that the Chinese boys
did redeem themselves by participating
in the last activity but
Azie complained to me that Bed did not handle
the session well and in the end
Azie had to do most of the talking...
or rather ended up somewhat taking over
the session from her...
and this pretty much annoyed me as
i had clearly stated and assigned certain session to
certain teachers so everyone got a fair share of
work load.
Argh...seems that the annoyance is here to stay...
This is not the only incident mind you....
Anyway...Chin and I went to KPJ but it was full...
so Chin ahd to wait until late evening before there was any
vacancy.
Dr Yap tried to push it for him...to get a bed...
good man....
He went back to sleep but by evening
he was nauseous and couldn't eat anything...
so we decided to search for a hospital to admit him in...
so we went to Columbia Asia but it was
also full...
so ended up we went to Chinese Maternity Hospital
and a few minutes after they charged the deposit...
KPJ called informing that there was an empty bed...
but well...we decided to just be at CMH ..
It would be convenient for his mother to visit too.
After sending Chin's things over at the hospital,
Ah Gem and I arrived home
at nearly 12 am...
and i still had to stay up to do my Treasure hunt tasks
for the next day...
I ended up sleeping at 2 am...
What a looooonnnnnngggg day it was...

High Blood? Low blood? Half Blood? Huh...?

My mom made a really funny deduction one evening...
My young niece, Baby, who is 9 years old..
read the first page of Percy Jackson and the Olympians...
since i bought it for Moses, promising them that
we would watch the movie on the first day
of CNY but had to be postponed...

It was a narration by Percy Jackson saying that he's a halfblood..
so Baby was curous as to what is half blood...
i guess she tried to look for someone to explain to her
its meaning but she could only find my mom...
so she posed the question:
Popo, what is half blood?

My mom, after thinking for a while, went:
Half blood?
I don't know...
There is high blood...and low blood...
so i guess...now there is half blood...
maybe it's in the same category of disease...

Simple deduction.....right?
Ahahahahahahahaha.......
I really shouldn't laugh at her...
but that was a brilliant answer for someone who never heard
of the term Demigod before...or halfblood....

Do you feel lucky tonight?

Hello bebeh...do you feel lucky tonight?
Can you feel it?
Nah....i don't feel the tingling sensation up my finger tips...
Hahahaha....

Chin always bemoans that we often missed our luck...
but after a little thought, he would say that we
are actually quite a lucky couple...

Why did he do this?
Well...two days ago he missed buying a 4D number
for our car number...
It's not like we buy anyway....
we never believe that we would strike it big...
But, he was so busy preparing for his
school PIBG meeting that he forgot to go to
the shop to buy...
and the next day....whammmm....
the number came out...
it was consolation prize but then...
he complained that he forgot to buy it because he was busy...

When will my dear, dear hubby realise that
God does not want him to get the money....?
Hahahahaha....he often said it's just not his luck...
but, well...that's God's way of saying...
the money is not for you....

But, yeah...he has other argument up his sleeves....
We attended the church CNY lunch in Ming Kok
restaurant last Sunday...
and out of 700 something people...
we both got the lucky draw hampers....
how lucky can that be?
That somehow restored his faith that we are lucky indeed, ya...
After all, as he often puts it...
"Well, we are indeed lucky you know. See, out of
thousands of people sending sms for
the Pringles competition, we were the only couple
chosen to represent Malaysia and Singapore
to go to NZ and visit the studio that
shot LOTR"
...at the same time he would grin his Orangutan-like
grin and hold my hand....
ROFL....

Spread the word of love

We are still at the end of the Christmas season of
goodwill when our country is plague with the unthinkable...
Events that we only witness happening in other
countries...
that we are sure not likely to happen here...happened..
alas...our comfort and safe zone is no longer safe...

We are shaken to the very core of our sense...
trying to make sense of what's happening..
trying to understand what started it all
and why...?

Fear germinates in our minds...hurt and grief...
sadden by the situation that we allow ourselves to be in...
just because of some opportunists who never
thought through their actions and the consequences of these...
before making it public.
and now the domino effect has started and
it is difficult to stop even if they want to...

I, of course, am talking about the what has happened
to 4 churches in the Klang Valley on
Friday morning.
My family is fearful of my safety here...
fearing that situation may become worse...
and that places of worship is no longer safe for
a moment of solitude with God...

Chin and I attended the evening mass yesterday
and the church was not as pack as before...
but Christian still feel safe to come together
to worship God and to pray for
peace and harmony...
In times like this, Fr Michael Chua
implores christian to remain strong and steadfast
in our faith and not to let
Fear to conquer our minds..
but let Love leads the way for us...
to forgive and to pray for healing...

Sin Chiew Jit Poh reported today that
the Bishop (as Fr Chua has mentioned)
has decided to continue to
fight for the Christian to use the
word 'Allah'...
as 60% of the Christian in Malaysia
comes from the east - Sarawak and Sabah...
and the language we use for prayer
is in BM...
and the Bible too are printed in BM and the
word 'Allah' is used...
The Ibans too use this word in their prayer as
i was taught to pray in Iban
before i know how to pray in English....
and i think the Bidayuh also use this word...
so...if it is banned...what word can we use?

I have a simple analogy to explain this
situation:
Imagine that...
since you were born you were taught to call your
father - father - in your mother tongue or
in the language you are familiar with...
And then oneday...
Someone simply announces that
YOU CAN NEVER CALL YOUR FATHER
with that word anymore...
and that you have to resort to other words
in other language...
for a mere reason that
other people may confuse your
father as their father...
How can that be?
How can people be confused of
who their rightful father is
if they are born and brought up
by that one father?
How would you feel if
you CANNOT call your father
-father-
ever again?
Knowing that you 'see' him, and
'talk' to him everyday of your life?

It is unthinkable..
but this is what will happen..
if this issue persists...
and if there is no tolerance...
or reason or rhyme...

Joining the crowd....

Yesterday we happened to be in Jusco....
to check out Popular bookstore
and to buy some ingredients for cooking spaghetti...
after Popular we went to Jusco...
There was a long queue...
and we were wondering why there was a long queue...
since we only wanted to buy the ingredients and
get some Shokubutsu shower foam...
the newspaper said it is very cheap...
not dirt cheap but cheaper than usual...
so we got 4 packets...
and to our dismay...
we had to join the long queue to pay for it...
so we decided to add Dynamo liquid detergent to
the list since we had to queue...
mind you...
that was the first time we ever join what we usually
try to avoid...
one that we labeled
"kiasu crowd..."
hahhahaa....
now we were the kiasu crowd...

See the line?
Crazy right?

Chin and nephew...in the line....

Wondering....aih...when will it be our turn....

Wat? Half way there...?
Aaarrgghh.....kiasu lang...

Another brilliant mind gone...taken when least suspected...

Remember how we used to think that others would
live up to 200?
Well...i do...not me...i mean....
i often think that people that we read about...
the famous ones...
the ones who really make a difference
or at least try to....
would live up to a hundred at least...
grow to a ripe old age...
but often times...
they are gone suddenly...
taken at the prime as most would say...

Chin called me with a sad tone on Monday evening
from Mantin...
said that Yasmin Ahmad is gone...
was in coma from stroke...
haih...
gone is one with such great minds...
one who inspired others to be better...
one who always had an in depth look into an issue...
one who was creative....
simple but memorable...
daring....
in expressing what others refrained from...
pointing at the truth...
like the child in the Emperor's New Clothes...

This year....
we will not only miss her Hari Raya advertisements...
but we'll also miss the message that she
often tried to get through to us...
of oneness...
Many would be disappointed now...
when the festive seasons are not adorn
with her thought-provoking advert...

May she rest in peace...
bless her....
