What Mr Chin did for me....on 300108

Last night at 11.45 pm, i decided to succumb to my tiredness and retired to my humble bed...and while making the bed, i heard Mr Chin switched the gas fire on....and i thought...at 10 mins to 12 and hungry? That late...cooking Maggie mee again.....

After a moment, he called out....come quick....come outside and look at the computer screen...look...i did something to it...quick...and i was thinking...wat...must be wanting to share Maggie mee with me...

So, unsuspecting me opened the door and wallah.....SURPRISE!!!! a slice of Chocolate Indulgence from Secret recipe with a small candle on it greeted me...with a slightly amused happy birthday song sang by the perpetrator.

It had been such a long time since he is able to pull off a surprise on me like that...usually...i would have discovered the surprise long before he could execute it and thus foiling all his hard work at concealing the whole surprise thingy....

Then, this morning, still groggy from lack of sleep (i ended sleeping at 1.15 because of school work), i stumbled into the bathroom to switch on the water heater....and WALLAH...another SURPRISE awaited me....

Attached to the shower holder was a nicely wrapped RED, RED rose with a simple note of love....how sweet considering that it comes from Mr Chin...but he has always have a mushy side....muahahahaha....and i thought...DARN!!! He got me again.....second time in a row....

It's going to be hard for me to pull off mine...to out do his tricks......:)
So, i was quite amused at the whole surprise thingy on the way to school..and it being a Wednesday and English Day, i had a lot of things to do once i arrived in school...

So, it was a couple of hours later as i was rummaging through my school bag looking for something when i discovered a card...so i took it out and written on the envelope was 'From your Student...'...
I didn't immediately open it up as i was really busy so, it was another hour before i actually sat down and read the card....
Once again, unfailingly, Mr Chin pulled off his stunt again....the cutest card with the cutest wording added to the existing ones made it really funny and made me go.....DARN THAT MAN....NYA...NYA......

So, that was the whole birthday thingy...as as i took out the flower just now, my mother-in-law went...A Man gave you the flower? Wah...how Ro..Man...Tic...(with cantonese accent)....hahaha....
Indeed...it was a day full of surprises....and the reality sank in...i have indeed grown a year older...in age that is but still young at heart....

Thanx Mr Chin...what would i do without you...hahahaha......you are not so Apek after all....

Sofa and divan...finally here...at last...

Today the sofa and divan and the mattress finally came....the bed looks inviting...luckily the room still has ample space after the bed is put in...now is the wardrobe.....the space at the foot of the bed is pretty wide...about tow metres to the wall....wow...that's good...

Somehow, the sofa set made the living room seems smaller...now i wonder...do all sofa set come in standard sizes? Hmmmm.....i wonder...the living room looked pretty spacious before but now....*scratching the head...*

Anyway....all in all..it is an odd eclectic combination.....

Death of a Talent...

R.I.P
Heath Andrew Ledger
04.04.79 - 22.01.08

The world is shocked with the news of the death of Heath Ledger or full name Heath Andrew Ledger from an accidental overdose in a Manhattan apartment on Tuesday. The world has lost another young aspiring and talented actor it seems...at such a young age.
I remember watching him in The Patriot, Casanova and a little bit of Brokeback Mountain. Tragic for one so young.

Read the news print:

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Actor Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday of a possible drug overdose in a Lower Manhattan apartment, the New York Police Department said.

Heath Ledger was unresponsive when a housekeeper found him in a Manhattan apartment Tuesday. The Academy Award-nominated actor was 28.

Ledger was found naked and unresponsive, facedown on the floor at the foot of his bed by a housekeeper trying to wake him for an appointment with a masseuse, said police spokesman Paul Browne.

"Pills were found in the vicinity of the bed," he told CNN.

"This is being looked at as a possible overdose, but that is not confirmed yet."

Browne later told reporters some prescription medications were found in the room, including sleeping pills.

But he stressed police have made no determination of the cause of Ledger's death -- that would be done by the medical examiner.

He said the pills were not "scattered about."

No note was found and there was no indication of foul play, Browne said. Ledger was found at about 3 p.m., and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel about 3:30 p.m. Video Watch a report about Ledger's death »

A crowd of onlookers, photographers and reporters gathered outside the apartment building after news of Ledger's death was reported. Police officers were guarding the doors.

Browne said he did not know how long Ledger had been renting the apartment, which he said took up the entire fourth floor.

An autopsy would be conducted on Wednesday, said Ellen Borakove, spokeswoman for the New York City medical examiner's office. Video Watch Ledger's body being removed »

Ledger's family called his death "very tragic, untimely and accidental."

"Heath has touched so many people on so many different levels during his short life, but few had the pleasure of truly knowing him," his father said.

"He was a down-to-earth, generous, kindhearted, life-loving, unselfish individual extremely inspirational to many."

Installation of the door and window grilles

Last Wednesday was a public holiday - Thaipusam. So, Chin and i spent the time at the new house supervising the installation of our main door and window grille. The design turned out very pretty and unique though it is not the most outstanding in the housing area. We are satisfied with the whole appearance. The design makes the appearance of a less jail-like house...and of course, the leaves and shoots enhance the appearance of the windows and the door.

After the grilled was put up, we cleaned the house once more and now, there is just the delivery of the furniture and the installation of the fans and water heater. Then, we can look forward to moving in finally to our new house. I hope that Cavenzi will fix the wardrobe by next week. Then, everything will be completed...yay...finally...cooking in my own kitchen...hopefully, i won't be too tired after school though....

Facing new boss...

I was exceptionally early this morning not because i was excited to meet the new boss but because Chin thought that we were late, so we did not have breakfast and by the time we reached Petaling, the coffee shop was closed. So, there i was in school at 6.50 with a growling stomach.

Well, i was hoping to see the principal personally to ask for the leave but apparently she didn't come to school because she had a meeting in Bahau at 9 am.

So, I discovered that another Chinese teacher, Fong is also planning to take a leave on 11th of Feb like Lee. So i reckon i'd better see her before anybody else, only to my dismay, i discovered that she would only be in school at 3 pm. I would be long gone by then...haih....

Kak Jem asked me about my leave and i told her my dilemma - to stay back and wait for her or to call. I asked Kak Jem the kind of person Pn Hjh is and she said the principal is quite an OK person, as long as you don't lie to her. I asked her if it would be ok to call instead of meeting face to face, she confirmed that it's ok.

So, 3pm found me sitting in the room clutching the handphone and calling the school. When i was connected to her, i explained to her my dilemma and why i couldn't see her in person and she said ok. She also said next time she won't entertain calls on this matter and I agree with her totally for matter like this is best settled by facing the person.

She sounds nice on the phone. Friendly and approachable...cynical of course but i guess that's the way she is....but my impression of her has improved. I hope that my future dealings with her will be as amicable as this....

Wind of Change....

The whole school was abuzz with the news of our principal getting a transfer..the clerks in the office were whispering about it on last Friday and came Monday morning, the morning was abuzz once again with the news that our principal had packed her stuff last Friday and was ready for the big move. The nightmarish news for everyone is the new principal - she is known for her strict nature and of course in the eyes of the UJ teachers as a tyrant....hahahahhaa....

It was true then, when the principal announced that her transfer was effective on Monday itself and that the new principal was on her way to the school...When i shook hand with Pn ZY and wished her all the best and thanked her, she smiled and said that i am a very good teacher and encouraged me to carry on with my good work. I was pretty neutral to be affected by the whole sad scene but i guess some teachers are sad of her transfer.

Later that morning, we met and shook hand with the new boss - HKS - the tyrant....her handshaking was firm - a good sign - that she'll be someone that can make good and firm decision and that she'll bring changes to the school...

JM, the new teacher who just got tranferred from TH this year, is lucky enough to have her as the boss twice - once last year when she was inTH and now in UJ....how can one be so DAMN LUCKY in one's life - pure irony...

Anyway, all the teachers tried to get a bit of story from JM but she didn't tell much...some good some bad but i guess there will be changes....Chin's principal said she's a workoholic. Man..die la like that...

I was a bit apprehensive after listening to many stories about her but frankly, i'm ok with the whole changes thingy...Good New Year wind is blowing and is gaining momentum or rather spring season is here....and there of course will be the good, the bad and the ugly....

The good thing will be the revamping of the whole system i hope...all these while, the school is in a state of constant tsunamis and well, hopefully, with the new boss, aids has finally arrived....and surely i hope things will once more be in order like what i had in St Co....

Of course the bad and ugly part will be for those teachers who as to quote from her UCAP UTAMA - main speech - "pecah amanah dengan lewat masuk kelas atau tidak masuk kelas langsung dan tidak mengajar dengan bersungguh-sungguh" unquote.

Like a storm, she came, she stormed in and out and she set her rules and her principles and she outlined her work ethics...impressive lady isn't she? Quietly i smiled as i listened to all the moaning from the teachers around me. or rather DREAD...

The first thing she did i heard when she came on Monday was to familiarise herself with the school and then she asked for the list of teachers who are considered problematic - though the exact definition of problematic is unclear. Then, she set the 2nd Staff meeting on Thursday morning at 10. It was originally at 11 am but she had to go to Palung 7 to witness Najib visiting the school, so all teachers were informed to be in the meeting room at 10.

We were all there 10 minutes before 10 and she came at 10.10 am. She briskly went through the name list and we teachers stood up so she could assess us. Those who came late were cynically admonished by her......

Then, she had a 6 pages speech - her UCAP UTAMA - prepared before hand for us to read and she methodically went through each line and where necessary, she illustrated it with examples. She sounded very cynical as if she had 'taken to a predecision' - to quote Muhd Haji Salleh in his poem - about the whole school's reputation. All in all, her speech could be concluded as follows : -

I come, I see, I spit out commands and you Neanderthals under me will have to follow it to the letter.

To quote her, what's the use of being the boss if you can't give command. Very true i guess. Her job is essentially, to think and give command and our job basically is dance to her tune. I like her already. I can practically taste the hostility and dislike and rebellion sizzling in the air....coming from all the teachers.....muahahahahahaaa....she sounds evil, doesn't she? Kewl lady....

At the end of the meeting, all the teachers went out with a multitude of expression - some cynical, some disbelief and some a sneer and a smirk, of course. I wanted to ask for a special leave on Feb 4 and 5 but I'll have to postpone it to Friday since she was leaving for Palung. I asked Lee when is he going to see her personally and Lee said Friday and aside he said, "Now, I wish I had asked earlier from the last boss." Vani's comment to that statement was "she even creates dread in the man teachers". Impressive lady i think.....*kowtow...kowtow....* :))

But of course, at the beginning, things will be a bit chaotic but i guess after a while, everything will settle to a normal routine and i hope that life will be more interesting with her appearance in UJ.

Good luck all UJ teachers.....and be on your toes always...for she who commands dislike wooden toes that could not dance to her tune...

Children from hell...

When we buy a house, we always hope for the best...especially the best neighbours around us. So far our neighbours are ok....mostly Chinese and 1 sarawakian next door to us....the husband is from Sibu...lucky us...
Anyway, last Saturday, our neighbour on the right finally made an appearance. He and his family were on their way back to Rembau and they hoped to be able to at least meet us. The wife is a teacher and she hopes to get SMK Bukit Kepayang when she is transfered back to Seremban. I wish her all the best in hoping for Seremban but we'll never know. Anyway, they have 3 boys and they are wild....uncontrollable and do not understand that they are entering others' house and that they have to behave. I have been brought up with a strict code of conduct which stresses on the importance of good behaviour in others' vicinity. Well, that explains my own extreme discomfort if people have children whom they do not impart this code. It is a universal code of behaviour i believe that all parents should emulate. Children who d not behave accordingly only reflect their parents' attitude towards proper behaviour.

To make a long story short, the children were eating junk food and they threw the debris on the newly mopped floor, banged the door on the wall which dent the paint on the wall, climbed out of the bay window, swing their legs while sitting on the bay window area and bang them on the new pristine white speck less cabinet, quarreled and cried and of course touched the pristine white wall with their junk-food covered fingers. Chin quickly lured the children and parents alike out.....phew...after they left we had to cleaned the wall and the floor once again....what a NIGHTMARE....

Interesting New Year wishes....

It is that time of the year when maxis, digi and celcom, all the telcos companies make a big buck from the general population.....people do send a lot of sms on new year's eve and these are some of my favourites. I have deleted most of them but i saved some of the interesting ones:

1 Later Mr Chung and his family will visit me. I'll ask them to visit you too! The Chung's family are: Chung Ma Piu, Chung Tai Choi, Chung To To & Chung 4D. They'll be there to wish you Good Luck. Don't worry! 3 of the members will not visit you for the whole year. Chung Sa Man, Chung Fan Xu and Chung One Kai is out of town this year. Happy New Year 2008.

And my favourite as well as the winner is...:

May the fleas of a thousand camels infest the ass of the people that fuck up your 2007 and let 'em bleed from the ULTIMATE scratches. Happy New Year 2008 and a Prosperous Year ahead.

School...haih...school......*loud and long sigh*

This week marks the 3rd week of school and well...i can feel the drag....a real drag...there are several reasons of course to this.....
First and foremost, school ends at 3.30 this year....and it is really a waste of time....it's like JPNS cannot make up their mind as to how to handle the whole thing....we are supposed to have 2 days of 3.30 pm because those are the extra co-curricular days....but for other days we are supposed to go back at 2pm. But people are of course ambitious and do not understand the stress and the attention retention theory and of course there's the climate factor which most think is unimportant.
It seems that school is like aimless....from now until February...after 1.30 pm there is no formal learning and that from 2pm to 3.30 pm, we teachers and students have to sunbathe in the school field which is too small for all four sports house to do practice at once. So teachers and students are left to their own devices...some who feel that they have the immunity to do almost anything and no one would object (including the head) will simply not go to the field. I don't see a point in all this. Those who are supposed to have classes after 1.30 pm will miss their classes all together for this whole 2 months.....such a waste...
Another thing is, all meetings will start at 3.30 pm. So, usually, if the whole week is allocated for meetings, which are usually long and draggy...the day will only end at 5.30 pm. Those like us who stay in Seremban will only reach home at 6.30...and to think that we punch in at 7 am. That is nearly 12 hours work a day...can anyone tell me, where can the teachers find the energy to plan for the lesson the next day. No wonder it is all chalk and talk method because that is the easiest one to fall back to when you don't have the energy and time to sit in front of the computer to actually prepare all the worksheets for classroom usage...thus quality is not maintain.
It is sort of unfair because this only happens in the rural school and in urban school, school ends at 2 pm and their results are still excellent....doesn't that speak volume?
Anyway, frankly, after lunch hour is the hottest period of the day...and classroom will be very hot and students of course will be sleepy and uncomfortable...thus any teaching done will not achieve the intended effects....the attention span of the students is no longer there....haih...
But that of course reasons that will fall on deaf ears...policy makers can only talk about policy while those who execute the policy will suffer from all the stress....Malaysia is well known a country which cannot handle a problem effectively...it is the blame, adhoc plan and execution techniques which have been done since 50 years ago...there is no long term study and research techniques to solve any problems...and of course those who talk most think that it is easy to carry out. Let them teach for a week to see how it feels before they actually open their mouth to make any comments....
What will become of the country's education system? Beats me....as long as we let politician decide on the policy and runs the education system, i don't think we can have a high quality education system....a system that can produce effective thinker.....
So much for being a teacher.....

Cervical polyps...NOT!!! Phew....am i glad...

I went to Rekha yesterday to get my pap smear report and let her have another look at my cervical area....so after school, we arrived there slightly over 5. We had to wait for a bit but luckily, it was just a 5 mins wait and there were not many people....
I went in, the good doc asked me how i felt, and i answered okay...and that i thought the infection is cured because the discharge is normal....
She asked me to lie down so she could have a look....she took one look at the outside condition and then a quick poke and she confirmed that everything is ok...i asked a few questions about causes and all and she said my pap smear result is ok...so i guess...it is a great relief....
I was so worried that i would have to get extra treatment etc...and that the polyps will cause further complication, but thank God, it was just an infection....
Now i have to wait for my next period before i call up LPPKN for my next appointment...I forsee a long, tedious road to successful reproduction for me and Chin....
Some people are just lucky enough to be gifted with the fertility of a rabbit but there are some who have to go through difficulties before they can actually experience the happiness....
Oh well.....pray that we will not have to wait long....

This is the man with all the beautiful girls.....all the girls are his greatest fans..

This is a video of Yaya laughing which we will show her when she's 18...

These are some of the latest pics of them and me with Chin....

Cervical polyps or not...? That's the confusion...

I feel confuse with my period cycle....i don't think i have regular cycle...i lost count....keep a diary but not sure when it started wen it ended and even whether it's normal or not...
To think that being a woman i should know....
I am suppose to do pap smear...and x-ray but the x-ray part was unsuccessful...so now the pap smear story.

I had period 4 3 weeks in oct and then when i wanted to do pap smear...it was on the 14th day...and being gov dept, they don't accept doing it after that...so i had to wait for the next cycle. Anyway, i wasnt so sure it it's really the end of my period and the 14th day. So, the next cycle ended, i was in Serian. I reckon that i go to the Klinik Ibu2 to do it on Friday....but well...being a goverment dept again (what's wrong with these gov servant problem), i arived at 3 pm and they said they had sterilised all the equipment( mind you, they only need a spatula, glove and the clip to open the cervical area) and that i was too late and had to wait for next friday. I didn't think i could wait that long so i went to Clinic Kiu instead. My sis said he's a gynae. I went to get it done.
Unfortunately, the good doc said i have got cervical polyps and that i had to get it treated or check first. he wouldn't do the pap smear procedure. The good doc wrote a letter to refer me to the hospital and so i went a week after that.

My good friend, the period came right after that...i was not sure if it was a period or the after effect or being poke with a clip so i waited. When i finally went to the hospital, the new good doc took a peek at my cervical area and said there was non...no cervical polyps and that i have a beautiful cervical area....(which did not amuse me). She asked what i expected her to do(coming from a doctor) so i told her. Refer me to a gynae in Seremban so i can really confirm about the polyps thingy. S, she wrote a lengthy letter to describe my symptoms and suggested that i get a pap smear done in Seremban.

And that brings me to last Saturday....Klinik Wanita Rekha. She's the expert in Women's problems and so i went there to get the pap smear done. She took a look, put the spatula in, a quick slightly painful swab and told me there is an infection inside. I told her the history and the mystery of the two docs opinion and she said neither is correct. The infection part is the correct one. So, she prescribed me with some antibiotics and asked me to come back in 10 days time for the pap smear result as well as another examination of the cervical area. So, i have yet to see her...and in the mean time, i don't want to scare myself. The polyps had caused me a scare already and now i just want to teke things easy, listen to what the good doc has to say...and maybe then, once it is treated, i can proceed with a normal period cycle again and then finally..with the reproduction process......

New year resolution.....Happy 2008..

It's only been a week and a half schooling but i feel like the year is going to be a drag.....not because it's working days but because school ends at 3.30 this year and after that there'll be the meetings which will drag up to 5 pm at least. By the time we reach home will be 6 pm 4 days a week. Now is still early in the year and there will be lots of meetings and sports and what not. I feel old already because everyday is so exhausting...
Well...thus explain my new year resolution which is to sleep at 8 pm at night. The reason is because there'll always be school work to do which will drag until 3 or 4 hours and the earliest i can go to bed is at 10.30. By the time 5.30 am i have to get up to get ready and by 6 am we must be out of the house already. I will be very happy if i can sleep at 8 pm at night....

I'm a simple person after all and my resolution is thus very simple....
Sleep...glorious sleep....zzzzzZZZZZZZ......

Makan hati berulam jantung....

Can one die of the ultimate frustration? Tis the question.....
This is a belated entry of what happened last Sunday...
First and foremost, God created man with one mouth and two ears so that he can talk less and listen more....
But what has man done with God's gift? He disregards the ears and use the mouth more....thus creating a situation call the ultimate frustration.
A very good example begins as thus:
There was once a man called Mr Chin. God had been gracious enough to bless him with 2 ears and a mouth in the hope that he would listen better and talk less. But alas, the nature of man was thus that they prefer to talk more and loud. Mr Chin's greatest fault was exactly that - loud and more. One day he decided to buy a house in an uptown resident known as Seremban 2. Preparation were made soon after the keys to the house were passed to him. He did some renovation, chose suitable colours for the rooms and equipped the house with other necessities such as lights, fans and others.
Finally, it was time to choose the grille. You see, the house was renovated in such a way that it had beautiful windows that let plenty of sunlight into the house. So, it was of utmost importance that the house had good grilles. His wife was a little fussy about grille designs because she did not want to live in a jail-like house.
So, Mr Chin invited the grille man to come and showed some designs for the house. The man came but he recommended a jail-like pattern which Mr Chin's wife instantly took a dislike to. She of course objected to the design. The couple discussed at length and his wife agreed to a design with an arch for the back windows. Then, they vigorously searched on the internet for a simple but eye-catching design - one with plant elements. Finally, they decided that the bamboo design was the most suitable.
So, it was confirmed that the grille design for the back part of the house was the one with the arch and the bamboo design was for the front. But as luck - and I say luck here ladies and gentlemen, because it was luck that brought the couple together in the first place - would have it, Mr Chin did not use the most important gift of all which was the ears to listen carefully. He went to order the jail-like design instead and when the couple went to supervise the installation - to his wife's HORROR - it was not the one that she like. But alas, once ordered, they could not reject it as their fund had really run pretty low. So his wife had to live in a situation which is best described with the Malay proverb - MAKAN HATI BERULAM JANTUNG.

* She is too angry and frustrated that she has to tell the story in the third person...the end.

New Year and new house....

We went to visit the house the first thing in the morning. I have not seen the house after it was painted 2 weeks ago. Chin said the colours were very beautifully combined especially the purple room. I knew that that would be my favourite room. So on that day, we went to inspect he house. The kitchen cabinet is almost done though the tiles at the side came off. The window cabinet and the upstairs cabinet were half way done. I did't relly like the yellow colour at the staircase. i think that it was a bit dark...like odd sort of yellow...one that is know as Kuning tahi...hahah...but at the top of the staircase with ample light, the yellow actually look nice. The room that i like most is the room downstair. The yellow combined with orange is a perfect match.....really soothing. Overall, the colours are not bad....one can grow to like it....Nga Tzai, Makiei and a friend came to see the house on that day. They showed mix reaction. Nga Tzai quite like it i think though i told him that if he were to stay as a guest, the purple room awaits him.
Now, there is the problem of choosing the right grille. The grille man came but we couldn't decide on any of the old fashion grille. I was quite frustrated because Chin kept pushing me to make decision when i refuse to do so....i know that the right design will turn up...we just have to be patient but he feared that people might break into the house to steal things. The 3 empty houses next door were broken into.
So we decided to go back and search on the net for the perfect grille for the house...
It's not easy to make decision because the grille is for life...once its on, its on...taking it off will not be economical...
We are not rich afterall...

Flying back in an Airbus

Christmas marks the end of the school holiday...come Christmas means within a week everyone will be back to school...and it's a bit draggy for me...thinking about the new school year.....i wish that everything will move slowly.....evry second can be stretched up to forever...
Anyway...the kids were sad as the day for Chin and I to come back here was drawing near...
Finally, Saturday came...and it was time to go to the airport...all the kids wanted to send us....and they seemed sad...baby said that she would miss both Chin and I and that it was really fun having us around....I know i am going to miss the 3 girls and Florence and Moses too....I know i will miss Sasa most...that girl..so mischievous sometimes and totally intelligent.....
Sasa later told me in the phone that baby cried after we went into the check in area....sad...it reminded me of when i was young and my aunt was leaving for Limbang. I think i was very close with her then and i cried and refused to let her go...it was so long ago but now, thinking about he kids brings back such memories....
I cant wait for the Chinese New Year break to meet them again.....
I desperately want the time to pass quickly but i also desperately do not want it to be over sos soon...once CNY is over, it means it'll be a long stretch of slogging away without any break until March....
Such torture...i cant bear it....
We flew back in an airbus. Chin was very excited..but it was quite disappointing tho. The food wasn't that nice and then, the taking off and landing wasnt that smooth...we were a bit dizzy by the time we landed....

Christmas 2007 (Belated Entry No 2)

Christmas has always been the best season of the year for me...better than Chinese New Year even though less grand...It is more of a family affair...2007 was no difference...the only difference was my sister's 3 kids were home for Christmas....
Oh how i love those kids....they were funny, fun loving and naughty and most of the time with totally unexpected antics...
I engaged them in baking cakes and biscuits as well as trying out several recipes like bread, muffin etc....

So, during Christmas, we had biscuits and cakes....haha...
Anyway, they enjoyed helping me decorate the Christmas tree....they took the deco off and put them on several times, but that's the whole deal with Christmas, enjoying the moment together with love ones....

The kids enjoyed decorating the house, the tree, the altar and making the deco for the door too...
On Christmas Eve, we went to church at 8 pm for the Christmas Eve mass. It ended at 9.30 pm and we headed home. The kids watch tv for a while while i secretly wrapped their Xmas gift in the room. After they went to bed, i put them under the tree for them....they know that when they wake up on Xmas day, the gift will be there for them...i have made it a point to give them something, to keep the Xmas spirit there. I also gave my dad a new handphone...curtesy from Chin and I. We shared to give him something special.

On Xmas day, we went to Kampung Janbu to visit my sister there. It's my bro-in-law kampung. We felt lazy to go there but it won't feel nice if we don't go there...
It was a humid day and by the time we got back in the evening, it was a relief for everyone...
It was really a quiet family celebration but then again, it means a lot to me....and i love it just like that...
How i wish every month is december

Coming home to Sarawak (Belated Entry No 1)

I went back on the 3rd of Dec on Air Asia at 9 something… Flying Air Asia alone much better as you can pick any seat you want. Most people travel in twos and there’ll be space for 1. I was seated next to 2 Sarawakians – a member of the Malaysia Army force – that can be clearly seen.

One and a half hours later, we finally landed in Kuching International Airport and the first thing that greeted me on arrival was the familiar local languages – the Bidayuh, the Iban, and the local Malay. These were like music to the ears and heart. They signaled HOME in capital letters….and it made me smile for I have not heard these languages in a long time. All the while speaking languages other than your language of origin makes you miss home badly. Everything around is so familiarly Sarawak….the people, the language, the food. And as usual, everytime after touching down, I felt this feeling of happiness, of coming home after a long period of absence. I don’t have the urge to do things in a rush and that life here is slow pace and relaxing…I feel that I can take things easy.

Another welcoming element that I enjoy most is the weather. It is always raining and cloudy in Kuching. I love rain and Kuching is the perfect place to enjoy it. The thought of long, hot months ahead after the new year makes me squirm in my very seat at this moment and definitely I wanted to enjoy the perfect weather during my stay in Sarawak. The weather on the day that I arrived was cloudy and that night it rained, and I just couldn’t describe how happy that made me….hahaha….

My nieces were at the airport to pick me up. Boy oh boy, did I miss those little angels….i really looked forward to the month ahead of spending wonderful times with the three girls and their cousins…..real fun and chat with many a thing seen from kids view….It would be a good holiday.

It’s good to be home and speaking with my own language….not just struggling along to learn some new languages that won’t stick in the mind and trying to express what’s inside with limited vocabulary.

Home sweet home..
