Inception yesterday...

Movie time ...yay....we havent gone
for a movie for ages....and yesterday...
we went to watch an under promoted movie - Inception.
I have not heard of it...so when Mr Chin said that
we were going to watch Inception...
i went like...sorry?
Anyway...he said it was like Matrix....
so i was imagining something boring and technical...
But...well...well...well....
it was a really impreesive movie....
one which will make you glue to the seat for
two hours an a half....
even the thought of going to the loo will not lure you
away from the screen.

The idea is fairly new....
about infiltrating people's dreams to steal their secrets...
it's much better than any high tech espionage...
it involves kidnapping and putting people to
sleep so they can create a world so real that
the persons will believe them...
and somehow...
let their secret out.

There's this one scene that i really love...
it's when they were falling from the bridge...
and those who were in the second level dream....
they are totally floating in a gravitiless world....
kewl...
the fight scenes were really kewl here....
it's like austronauts training...

Which charater do i like?
Definitely Arthur...
played by Joseph Gordon Levitt..
he looked familiar....i remember he acted in one of the sitcoms
when he was a kid....
hah...!!!
Third Rock fom the Sun, my favourite
sitcom in the nineties....

Anyway...his character was the coolest....
He seemed unflustered by all the huha around him...
but yet maneuvering around all obstacles
smoothly....
2 thumbs up for him...

This is a highly recomended movie for all except
for children...because i guarantee they will not
understand the concept...
but well...like Matrix...you have to listen intently
in order to understand the whole idea...

Scared senseless...or not....rather laughed senseless...yeap...

Last Friday Aida, Shidah and I went to watch
Nightmare on Elm street since Aida won 4 free tickets
from one of the radio stations she called in...
Initially Baya was supposed to come with us but
at the last moment something came up so there was just the 3 of us...

We were quite l;ate acyually so we missed the front part of the
movie...
we missed the first death....
but yeah...the sound was quite loud....and could sacre one....
but the 3 of us laughed more than being scared senseless...
Shidah had to change seat in the middle of the movie
since the person infront of her was quite tall...
That was one reason why we laughed...
another was the predictable storyline of the movie...
and Freddy wasnt that ugly....
and invincible....
but he didnt die either in the end...
u can't kill someone who has died right....
he'll just become ghost again....
But i havent been to movie with aida for so long....
the last was in 2008....
We'll definitely do this again.....

2012 - The End of the World as we know it today...

Last night we went to watch a 2012 movie in MBO...
It was a pretty long movie - almost 2 and a half hours...
span over 3 years...from 2009 to the D day- 2012.
It told of how the aligment of all the planets with the
sun causes a a cosmic disturbance
that melts the earth core...
and of course it deals with the dilemma faced by
heads of governments...
who to save and how do you choose....
but it all boils down to money in the end...
that does the choosing...
Anyway...
some issues touches by the movie include:
what would you do if u know that's the last moment of ur life?
would u be selfish and save ur own butts?
what would u do to save yourself and your love ones?
where would u go?
what are the morally correct things to do?
Well...the effects are quite good...realistic...how the plates shift..
and the plates the we know now submerge under water...
the volcanoes...
the earthquakes...
the tsunamis...
those are pretty kewl to watch...
but apart from that...
it is a bible story brought to life...
of how God asks Noah to build an ark to save
the animals and those whom He had chosen...
before He cleans earth of sins...
but only here...
God is quiet...
while mankind struggle to survive...

New series - The Little Nyonya on NTV7

Today while browsing through the
channels as usual...
i accidentally watched and got hooked on this
new series...The Little Nyonya...
Love it for the fact that it portrays the Nyonya and Baba
cultures....
i missed the beginning of the story but i managed to
catch up on you tube...
apparently it came out in Singapore...
but only now is it shown in Malaysia...
a Singapore production...
which makes it even more intriguing....

Where got Ghost???

Last night Chin and i went to watch this Singapore movie
entitled Where Got Ghost by Jack Neo...
it was DAMN hilarious...

There are 3 mini stories in the movie...
Ghost in the street, Ghost in the Jungle and Ghost in the house.
The most hilarious one is the 3rd one...
it is a continuation of the story
Money Not Enough...
The languages used are a mixture of English, Mandari and Hokien...
I love anything hokien because the language is funny in itself...
a dialect sprinkled with Malay words...

It told of how the 3 brothers mistreted their mother when she
was alive and now even in death
they expect so much of her...
and also mistreated her by asking for this and that and when their
business got worse they decided
to put her Tablet in a temple instead of at home...
But the whole haunting in itself was so hilarious that you'll
laugh till tears come out...and slapping your thigh
at the same time...

It is a must see if you love comedy....

New Philipino soap on TV2 - Kahit Isang Saglit (A Time for Us)

I accidentally caught an interesting new Filipino soap
on TV2 today...starring the dashing 29-yr old Jericho Rosales
and Carmen Soo....
a Philipino-Malaysian production...
Carmen Soo sounds a bit like Filipino when she speaks English....
She's supposed to have a Pinoy for a father in the soap...
She looks like a Filipino too...most prolly because of the makeup...
and yeap...there are kissing scenes too...not bad ha...for
a Malaysian actress....
Echo as usual is dashingly handsome and full of emotion...

I am a fan of Filipino soap...tho i can't really understand the whole
fan thingy back when my sis and mom watch Pangako Sa Yo...
Then there was that Red Butterfly soap which i really love
because of the handsome lead actor....(cant recall his name)
Anyway...i haven't watch a good Filipino soap for
such a long time now...
I always have a thing for the Tagalog language....
I love listening to it and think that it is a beautiful language...
to be learnt....but the only phrase i know is Mahal Kita...

Chin would definitely make disgusted sound if he knows...
But well...this Kahit Isang Saglit is a Filipino-Malaysian production...
and yes...some of the settings are in Kuala Lumpur, Putrahaya and
Cameron Highlands too..
and will look familiar to the Malaysian viewers...
too bad i won't be able to watch it once school reopens because it is
at 12.30 noon i think...
argghhh...maybe i should just buy the DVD to watch..
or on You tube but problem is there's no subtitle in youtube...

Winding down with agood movie...or so we thought...

On Saturday night...after sunset mass we went to MBO Terminal2
to catch a movie...since we had 2 free complimentary ticket
for Chin's birthday...we thought we might as well go
and watch a good movie to relax...
We didn't know what to expect...since Chin said the movie
is exciting...about retired super heroes being killed etc...

Movie started at 9.15....and the beginning was a bit draggy after the murder of Comedian...
it spanned through the 60s to the 80s...with soundtrack from
the 60s to the 80s...which include Simon Garfunkle...
we really enjoyed the soundtrack but i thought it was a bit too
long for an introduction...
the plot was a bit draggy too...as in 2 hrs and a half..
and we still didn't know who was the villain...
it is definitely NOT for children...
for it contains violent scenes of killing and sex....hahaha....
we got headache and backache at the end of the nearly 3 hrs show...
For people who love action and hates conversation...well
totally unsuitable...
a lot of talking and you have to concentrate on the conversation
to understand the whole plot...
It was rather anti climatic for me because when we discovered who
the villain was and the reason he did what he did,
the one hero that we thought could stop him finally agreed
with him....that is achieving peace through
the sacrifice of a small number of people...
It is too idealistic and of course some of the heroes could not
accept this idealistic view and i guess some
viewers too...
for the younger viewers, i guess it would be difficult for
them to understand the era of cold war that
the movie is set in...
all those newspapers clippings and news flashes featuring the past
presidents of America (the killing of JFK is included)
would make them wonder who were those people...
But overall...enjoyable i guess...
More suitable to watch a DVD than in the cinema..

A trully heartrending tale of redemption....

I finally finished reading The Kite Runner
by Khaled Hosseini...
Argghhh....
it is the most poignant tale of a man
seeking redemption for his past and his father's past...
and my heart bled with every page turn....
i cried with every page of Tuesday with Morrie...
but with The Kite Runner...
I cried even when i told the whole story to Chin...

Amir is not a likable character but one does
feel for him...and understand his inner conflict of
seeking his father's approval...
The book is a page turner...
I want to read the next page as fast as possible
but at the same time i dread to
turn the page....afraid of what might happen
to Hassan and later....Sohrab...and
if Amir succeeded in bringing him to America...
and in the end....no matter how
painful each page is...
I was still forced to turn it and hope that
his journey to redemption will be successful...

Chin wanted me to watch the movie...
but i do not think i can handle the whole poignant tale in
colour...and flesh....
argghh....especially the encounter with Assef....

This is a MUST read for everyone...
and definitely an eye-opener too...on the suffering
of the people in a war torn countries...

CSI Vegas 9th season...

Chin downloaded the 9th season CSI Vegas
series and we watched the 1st episode
two or three nights ago...

I actually forgot that Warrick Brown was
shot in the neck at the end
of the 8th season....
Anyway....the 9th season opens with
a sad scene...
like everyone is paralysed with shock....

I don't want to spoil the fun and surprise...
but it is the raw emotion that i want to
describe here...

Chin and I bawled our eyes out at the end of the show....
Oh...my heart...my heart....
Dear, dear Warrick....
and the shattered team...
disillusioned Grissom....
Nick, who suffered the most i think...
because he and Warrick were
the greatest of buddies....

My heart felt like being squashed....
looking at the emotion on Grissom's face...
he has always been detached from any emotion....
not even when Sara left him...
or when Nick was in the tomb....
He has always been surreal....
never in touch with his human side....

But in this episode....
oh...my heart goes all out to him.....
Well....
you definitely MUST not miss it....
and bawl your eyes out...
it's ok to cry.....
for one that you are so attached with....
Grissom is my first favourite and Warrick was second....

So...cry people.....cry....

Charmless Bond..

We went to watch James Bond on Saturday
night at Terminal 2
Seremban
(the freezing cold zero degree cinema)
and well...
what can i say...

It was a fast pace action pack movie definitely
and if one is not careful
it'll send your head spinning
so fast you can't even follow the whole storyline...
Anyway...you definitely have to watch the first
movie where Daniel Craig appeared
as Bond to catch the drift of
this one...
well...at least it'll explain why
Bond is so adamant in searching the person who killed
his love in the last movie..
I thought Bond is a "kiss her and leave her" type
and not someone who is
hanging on to old hurt...
but most prolly because of the betrayal
that hurt him the most...

Anyway...
I think Craig lacks Bond's charm...

Bond is usually dripping and 0oozing with
easy and sexy animal charm...
which made him the sexiest Bristish spy
ever exist
on screen...
his very appearance exudes blatant sexual charm....
one that can beguile a bird out of the tree...
as the saying goes...

But Craig obviously is
the killing machine type...
He lacks the bemuse look of a cool, confident
seducer...
Hmm...
and he didn't go by the old pick up lines
"Bond, James Bond"
and
"Stir not shaken..."

Overall though....it was an exciting movie to watch....
