The nervously awaited day was over and i am
kinda glad....
but the pain is stil there...
a bit...
I woke up early on Friday morning...
took bath and then at 7. 15 we drove to KPJ...
We arrived exactly at 7.30...
and on the way to the entrance
we met Dr Ishak...
He was early...
Anyway...he said he would meet us later after i was admitted...
So we went to admission counter to get admitted...
then...i was led to a 4 bedded ward...
It was ready for me....
the nurse gave me a change of clothes
and a cap for the hair...
asked some routine questions
and asked me to get change...
In hospital clothe
So there we were at 8.15 am...waiting for the doc..
he came at about 8.30....
i was giddy with nervousness...
laughed a lot...
made some lame jokes...to calm the nerve...
Chin took some pics of me
with his handphone...

Then...Dr Ishak said OT(operation theatre)
would call for me when they were ready...
Mind you, i simply love the theatre...
but not this kind of theatre...:(
In the cap...
Then, another attractive doc arrive...
look at the bed number and
my name...
and introduced himself as
Dr Amran, the anesthesiologist,
and he explained that he would be the
one that would knock me out...
He explained some procedures....
but i said i would be blissfully unconscious
by then to know anything...
Chin, being the Chemistry teacher that he is,
asked the good doc about what subjects
one should excel in if one
aspires to be a doctor...
Dr Amran, so sweet of him, obliged Chin
by explaining in his sometime stuttering
way....about the academic side of the deal...
Sweet....
Anyway...when OT finally came calling,
i was a nervous wreck...
i was pushed into OT with a trolley...
said goodbye to Chin....
or rather see you later...
then, changed trolley in the waiting alley of the OT...
and finally wheeled into OT...
It was really cold inside...
or maybe i was nervous...
my heart rate was increasing...
and i was shivering..from
the cold and nerve...
Dr Amran....stuck a needle into my vein
for the IV drip...
(man...that was PAINFUL)
i hate IV drips...
my first encounter was when i was 16
and 17 years later
i stil hate it....
"Takde lagi jarum yang tak sakit..."
that was his statement to my curse....
I was finally wheeled to the operation theatre...
a cold trolley bed...climbed into it...
and looked into the 3 lights....
like in Dr House...
or ER...
I was hooked onto the heart monitoring machine...
and the nurse smiled at my heart rate...
Dr Ishak appeared and grinned
at my heart rate...
He said....Nervous? First time? Nothing to worry...
The heart rate is a bit fast...
Man...i was trying to control my
shivering body..
The next thing i knew...
there was a slight pain on my hand...
where the doc pricked the tube for the drip...
apparently, Dr Amran was discreetly giving me the
anaesthetic....
i winced at the cold that ran up my vein...
"Sakit ke?" he asked....
need i answer that?
Die urut-urut sikit....haih...
then i felt my head became like two...
then i was just saying....can i sing...
and the next moment i was gone...
I was having a nice dream...
when i heard the nurses woke me up...
asking me to breathe...
i tried 3 times...
before i finally was able to breathe...
they took off the oxygen tube....
the air never tasted so sweet before...
I heard Dr Amran said hi...and welcome
back to the real world...
i was still trying to think what was happening...
there was like a heavy weight on my
abdominal area...
At 12, i was finally wheeled into the ward...
and i saw the worried Chin waiting for me...
waved a weak hi at him...
The whole thingy took 2 1/2 hrs...
the procedure itself was only 45 mins...
If i have to go through the whole procedure again...
i would still have the same nervous
reaction...
One can never be too comfortable
or get used to being under the knife....
for a million years...
Thankfully...
they waited for me to be unconscious before
they took off everything...
but the pain is stil there...
