When I was in St Co..Monday was a dreadful time and Friday
was like TGIF time....
Why...because we start work on Monday after
2 days of lazing around...
Monday blues....
But strange enough...i don't really suffer from Monday Blues here...
I am still okay with Mondays here...
what i can't stand is Wednesday...
Wednesday is the new Monday for teachers in Negeri Sembilan...
Why?
Because Wednesday is the longest day of the whole week...
It is also a chaotic day where mainly....
everyone is in a blur...
and that nothing actually works out in real world
as compared to on paper...
Wednesday is extra Co-curricular day...
Wednesday ends at 5 pm...
Wednesday is also the English Day...
Right...those who are not from N9 would wonder...
wat the heck are those things mentioned...
Well...allow me to enlightened you...
The day starts as a dreadful day for the English teachers mainly...
The English day...
The Dept. has allocated 40 mins for English teachers
to have an English activity during the morning assembly...
this is when one teacher will
conduct an English activity and he or she has to get all the students
to participate...
Imagine talking in front of 800 non-responsive students...
the talking part is tolerable...
the English teachers have no problem with that...
but the non-responsive students are a little intimidating...
First, 3 quarter of the students do not understand what is being said...
and then...they are asked, sometimes...to go up to the stage
and answer some questions...
I guess Wednesday is a dreadful day for the students as well...
they are expected to participant in the English Day activity...
hahaha....
For the English teachers...it is dreadful because they have to crack their heads
thinking about an INTERESTING activity to carry out
in front of 800 non-responsive students...
Now, it is a dreadful day for all teachers because the new principal
wants each teacher to have a 5 mins speech
in English on the stage...
He started it the week before CNY...and it will go
down the rank...
Suffice to say that...
if we English teachers were to make money out of the speeches
we prepared...we would be smiling away at the end of the month...
To add chaos to order...
Wednesday is Co-curricular activities day...
Teachers are Jack or Jill of all trades...
the ministry has made it compulsory for students to join 3 co-curricular
activities during their tenure in school...
uniform bodies, clubs and sports...
And to make matters worse, teachers are expected to do the same...
We have to handle 1 uniform body, 1 club or society and 1 sports activity...
Heck..there is no specialism...
everything is 'bidang terjun'...
in a week, teachers have to prepare their lesson plans...
depending on the subjects and classes they
teach...
and also plan activities for the ko-k.
If i were to concentrate solely on English Society, i can at
least come up with interesting activities...
but now...i have to worry about Scouts (which i have no knowledge in)
and the Athletics club.
Worse...what would you plan if you are the teacher advisor for kelab
merentas desa (cross country run)?
My school is very chaotic on Wednesday...
confusion reigns...
students would be everywhere...
teachers will be very blur...
and the PK ko-ko will always say...
semuanye bergantung kepada guru la kan...
kalau guru boleh mengawal pelajar...takkan ade masalah...
heck...you don't even know what activities that the students join...
even they themselves have problems remembering it...
and you expect teachers to memorise all those information...
My question is...are you nuts?
